New Website for the Soccer Club SKN St. Pölten

July 26, 2019 | Success Story

Top-tier Content Management

Known as “the Wolves”, the Lower Austrian professional football team was looking for a partner to work on their web presence. They needed a partner who could guarantee delivery according to their vision within the shortest possible time. In total, three web pages (for the club, the stadium and the youth teams) needed to be combined on one informative site. Intensive hands-on support preparing the content meant that a clear design that reflected the vision of the club was soon in place. Thanks to its user friendly interface, the IXOCREATE content management framework allows non-technical team members at SKN St. Pölten to customize the website at any time, e.g. edit content blocks and texts, exchange images and update news posts.

Three Websites Combined

Known as “the Wolves”, the Lower Austrian professional football team was looking for a partner to work on their web presence. They needed a partner who could guarantee delivery according to their vision within the shortest possible time. In total, three web pages (for the club, the stadium and the youth teams) needed to be combined on one informative site.

Given the high number of visitors on mobile devices, it was important for the club to offer a responsive website. A modern design was conceived in cooperation with our long-term partner, the digital agency crossconnect, that would be pleasant to use on both desktop and mobile devices. Advertising banners were seamlessly worked into the design to make them unobtrusive. A further requirement of the club was to be perceived as a family, which was achieved through the use of large-scale photos and by integrating images from social media platforms. Users can now filter news posts by topic to improve navigation. In addition to the public website, there is also an exclusive B2B area that can only be accessed with a personal login and is used for networking purposes.

We were able to implement the website quickly thanks to our long-standing experience with customers from the world of sports, in particular past cooperation with Austrian record championship winners SK Rapid Vienna. For example – as is common for sports clubs – a number of integrations with third parties were implemented, e.g. to display fixtures and the league table. This ensures that content is embedded automatically and eliminates the need for daily and time-intensive maintenance.

Our goal is to present ourselves as a modern and innovative club. This is why we wanted to take a step forwards in terms of our web presence and modernize it. IXOLIT was the perfect partner for us, as the implementation of the project was a resounding success.

Intuitive Dashboard for Realtime Management

This project was one of the first developed using the fourth generation of IXOCREATE. The team spent the final months optimizing the content management framework and adding more user-friendly features to make working with the system easy. The latest version offers an improved user experience, allowing users without a technical background to work with the intuitive dashboard, editing content and updating the website in realtime.  Pages can easily be added or copied, apply styles for headings and quotes and images can easily be exchanged and update. This flexibility reduces the time and cost involved in maintaining the site, as outside experts are no longer required to update the content and edit the design. Another practical feature is the timer function which makes it possible to define a time at which content automatically goes live or is removed from the site. This adds a high degree of flexibility reduces the time and effort required.

SKN St. Pölten

The Sportklub Niederösterreich St. Pölten was founded on 6 July 2000 after the dissolution of its unofficial predecessor, FCN St. Pölten, and its predecessor, VSE St. Pölten. The new club took over the entire infrastructure, the stadium and also the patronage of the federal youth center from FCN. By taking over the BNZ St. Pölten, the SKN was not placed in the last division as is usual for a newly founded club, but was allowed to start in the 2nd Landesliga.
